Southern Brain Injury Clinic is a Center of Excellence for brain injury including treatment of TBI, PTSD, Concussion Syndrome, and related problems. We provide relief for those suffering by restoring brain function and life.
At Southern Brain Injury Clinic (SBIC), we understand the debilitating effects that brain trauma has on our patients. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) and concussion-related brain dysfunction leads to 2 million emergency room visits, 230,000 to 500,000 hospital admissions and 52,000 deaths annually in the United States. Survivors of TBI are at increased risk for the development of severe long-term psychiatric disorders particularly depression, generalized anxiety disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Cognitive dysfunction is debilitating and universal. *Our patients include veterans suffering blast injury. They are “USED UP”. Motor vehicle and bicycle accidents are common along with industrial accidents, falls and anoxic brain injury. Contact our caring staff at SBIC to discuss the proper treatment regimen for you or your loved ones. Make the decision to stop suffering and call (251-422-5314 day or night ). What makes our clinic unique is the use of HBOT to treat TBI, Concussion Syndrome/ Injury. HBOT fixes damaged brain anatomy. Universally HBOT results in excellent relief from serious concussion dysfunction! Younger patients with acute ailments require less treatment than patients with chronic TBI disability. We are entering a new era in therapeutic treatment and recovery. To ensure patient comfort and safety we utilize state of the art, fully computerized cutting edge hyperbaric technology and adhere to all international industry safety standards. Our team at SBIC is Andy Manchikes MD, ABA, CHT, and Pat O’Brien NRP, CHT our Safety and Technical Director. The standardized national protocol is followed. Dr. Manchikes and Pat O’Brien have 50 years of combined experience in medicine. Want to know what it feels like inside a hyperbaric oxygen therapy chamber? During the compression and decompression portions of the treatment, the patient will feel pressure in their ears – much like when changing altitudes. This can be equalized by either swallowing or yawning. Otherwise, it feels like sitting in a normal room. The patient lies down comfortably while enjoying a television program or DVD on a mounted flat-screen TV and breathes just like they normally would. In fact, it is an incredibly relaxing time for most – some even use the time to take a nap! Hyperbaric oxygen therapy sessions last 60 minutes. The pressure inside the oxygen chamber is gradually increased while 100% pure oxygen is added to the atmosphere. HBOT treatments are controlled by a computer, while simultaneously being monitored by our trained and experienced hyperbaric technicians.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)
SBIC is the only private clinic in the region to boast HBOT while further providing a more economically feasible option to the patient compared to costly hospital visits. Generally, the cost of a single session of HBOT in a hospital setting can cost well over $1,000 whereas the cost of a clinic is significantly less. This makes SBIC the only place where people can go to get affordable Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber (HBOT) treatment.
